Descriptions of Special Workshops available at Cat House Rugs:

*Plaid/Sculpting Workshop - Learn plaid and sculpting in this two-day workshop. You will make a 14" square pillow with a sculpted holly or pumpkin design in the center surrounded by a plaid border.  You'll have plenty of time to finish this piece before the holidays!

*Fine Shading of a Rose - The shaded rose is a 10" square pattern.  You will learn the art of color and contrast to create a 3 dimensional effect in hooking.

*Dye Class is a one day workshop limited to four students.  You'll learn to dye wool for your rug in the Cat House dye kitchen.  Bring your own wool or buy the wool at our studio.

*Proddy Class - Learn to apply “proddy” to your hooked pieces, adding a three-dimensional effect. In fact entire rugs can be made using proddy, once you learn the technique. There is a good article in the November/December 2005 Rug Hooking Magazine about this style, and it is quickly gaining popularity because it is fun and easy to do. Prodded rugs can be completed in a fraction of time that it takes to traditionally hook the rug. Sign up now for this great workshop!

*Intro to Rug Hooking is a two hour lecture and demonstration on the basics of rug hooking.  You will attempt hooking on a very small sample piece.  This basic irtroduction class is repeated monthly.

*Sculpting Workshop is a two day workshop to learn the technique of sculpting wool into your rug.  Bring your piece to life in 3-D, similar to the old Waldoboro rugs of Maine.
